Part 8 Planning Notice Notice under Section 179 of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 and Part 8 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended)
Pursuant to the provisions of Part XI of the Planning & Development Act, 2000 (as amended) and in accordance with the requirements of Part 8 of the Planning & Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), notice is hereby given that Cork City Council plans to carry out the project titled:
Weighmaster’s House, (comprising the former Weighmaster’s House and Western Bay of Butter Market to rear) at 2 Church St., Cork, Proposed Refurbishment, alterations and change of use to community and creative space.
The proposed development consists of the following:
Refurbishment of the existing Weighmaster’s House (part of Protected Structure RPS ref. no. 077 and located within the Shandon Architectural Conservation Area) following best conservation practice.
Proposed internal alterations facilitating public access and use.
Proposed change of use to community and creative space.
All associated site works.
In accordance with the Habitats Directive, an Appropriate Assessment Screening Determination has been carried out on the project, in relation to any potential impacts upon the Cork Harbour Special Protection Area [Site No. 004030] and the Great Island Channel Special Area of Conservation [Site No. 001058]. The findings of the AA screening noted that no significant effects on any Natura 2000 sites is likely, and it was not necessary to undertake any further stage of the Appropriate Assessment process.
In addition, an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) screening determination has been carried out for the proposed development, and it has been concluded that there will be no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and a determination that an EIA is not required.
In accordance with Article 120 (3), as amended by S.I. No. 296 of 2018, a person may, within 4 weeks beginning on the 15th of November 2024 apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment. Such a submission should be addressed to the Secretary, An Bord Pleanála, 64, Marlborough Street, Dublin 1.

Alternatively, the Plans & Particulars will be available for inspection on working days from Friday 15th of November 2024 to Friday the 13th December 2024 at the Reception Desk, Cork City Council, City Hall, Cork. Please note our public counters in City Hall, Anglesea Street, Cork are open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays. However, please note for all such inspections to telephone our Customer Service Unit at 021 492 4000 or to visit our website www.corkcity.ie before coming to City Hall. Members of the public visiting City Hall are requested to make an appointment where possible.

Submissions and observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development is situated, may be made;
