The Draft talks about a "Diverse Economy" as if being a key pillar of the future economy - but in practice it is "Barrier to Entry" driven economy.
Tuairim
A lot of time, money and effort was put into the Cork City Tourist Train Project only for Cork City Council to provide for a dishonerable implementation of the Tourist Train Contract on a remote back street. That was unfair and does not fit with the claim in the Draft Document that they are planning for a diverse economy in Cork City. In its current "barrier to entry" driven structure and practice, the City economy lacks diverness in favor of providing for a select few as in this case THIS COMMENT HAS BEEN REDACTED. Diverse is meaningless as I have over the years had to sit in silent meetings with the Cork City Council without success THIS COMMENT HAS BEEN REDACTED. All unfair nonsense from what is supposed to be a modern day Council working to build a modern day City. Their idea of the city economy being diverse, is when in practise as I have found it to be "barrier to entry" driven in reverse for the benefit of the few. Some Points below that they fell down on.
Point 7.22 Support Indiginous Enterprise and Enterpreneurship on page 221of the Written Statement is not how I experienced Cork City Council. They converted the value in the Tourist Train business to zero so that type of effort does not support the point.
Point 7.23 Develop a Socially Inclusive City on page 221 of the Written Statement is not how I experienced Cork City Council.
Point 7.31 Enhance Tourism as made on page 223 of the Written Statement is not reflective of how Cork City Council engaged with the Tourist Train ProJect. Their back streeting effort away from the catchment does not support the point.
Point 7.33 Build a Diverse and Resilient Economy as made on page 223 of the Written Statement is not reflective of how Cork City Council engaged with the Tourist Train ProJect. They did not do any of what is set out in the paragraph so thus their effort does not support the point.
That the Tourism business environment in Cork City be operated fairly for the benefit of all.
So that we can all earn a living - even those of us who are responsible for the commercial aspects of a business. As the current operation of the Tourism business environment in the City is for the benefit of the few that has kept me out of employment for the past 6 years and the weather has destroyed the asset.
