The submission makes a number of placemaking and heritage related observations on the Draft Plan and Amendments. These include reiterating the unsuitability of the location of tall buildings on the city centre island and inner (western) docklands areas. Concerns raised about the rezoning of lands in the vicinity of 2 no. properties, namely, Hyde Park and Clifton Convalescent Home. It strongly urges that these amendments be reversed so as to retain the present zoning of these highly important harbour area landscapes, with existing buildings of significant heritage interest. Two propodsed additions to the Record of Protected Structures are proposed: Cork City Library and the Former ESB building, Caroline Street.
