Greenway to Tower and Blarney from Cork City
Tuairim
Blarney is a huge tourist attraction that most people visit by private coach tours, public busses or car. The introduction of a green route from the City to Cloghroe, Tower and Blarney using the old Muskerry Rail Line would be of huge benefit to the people living in this area as a sustainable and safe route to commute to work, shop and socialize in the city. The exisiting route from Cloghroe to Leemount Cross is a dangerous road and not safe for cycling or walking.
The old Muskerry Rail Line along the banks of the Shournagh river from Leemount Cross to Cloghroe would be an ideal route to link up the existing route from Carrigrohane Road to the proposed cycle route at Tower Bridge on the Draft Development Plan.
The river Shournagh could be a very beneficial asset to the route by introducing picnic and play areas along the route and more "Go Bike" stations for commuter to work cyclists, tourists and families.
Cycle and pedestal route
Sustainable route for all, cyclists commuting to work, tourists and families living within the areas.
