Cork City Partnership (CCP) is a local development company having a number of outreach offices across the City. It is the programme implementer for the Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) in the City. In 2020 a small sub-group of CCP SICAP staff carried out a community consultation process in the Blackpool area. In addition to a number of consultation events, staff also met groups who use the library and community centre such as older peoples' groups and the Roma community in order to obtain their views. A door-to-door leaflet drop was done, inviting over 500 residents and businesses to participate and give feedback on issues/ideas which they might have for the area. The results of this consultation were shown in the report which has been uploaded with this submission.
CCP staff carried out a community consultation process in Blackpool in 2020 and produced a report with recommendations which was presented to the Local Area Committee in January 2021. This report is uploaded with this submission. The findings from the report were broken down into 10 broad headings, including; anti-social behaviour, young people, community, courses, older people, dereliction, new development, footpaths/roads/lighting, trees/green areas/grass cutting, rubbish and dog fouling and minority groups. A working group, made up of local groups and agencies has been set up to progress the findings. These findings support the need for Objectives 10.77 (pg. 415) and 10.78 (pg. 416).
That the issues raised from the consultation be addressed as part of the Blackpool Neighbourhood Centre Regeneration Plan and Development Objectives for Blackpool/Kilbarry outlined in the draft City Development Plan 2022-2028.
Unless the issues outlined above are addressed, it will be difficult to achieve Objectives 10.77 (pg. 415) and 10.78 (pg. 416), specifically at Objective 10.77 sections (a), (c) and (d).
