Cork City Draft Development Plan 20212-2028

In regards the above consultation, I wish to highlight that the Lee to Sea Greenway is supported through objectives within both:

a.    the Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy (Cork Metropolitan Area Strategic Plan) and

b.    Cork Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy (CMATS).

CMATS objectives refers to the Lee to Sea Greenway as a short term deliverable for the section between Ballincollig and Crosshaven.

I ask for the following amendments to the Draft Development Plan:

·       To include a bespoke Lee to Sea Greenway objective within Chapter 2 Core Strategy to reflect the strategic importance of this inclusive and welcoming commuter travel route for all ages and abilities, contributing to place-making, helping to address climate change, reduce carbon emissions, improve public health and support local businesses.

·       To change the word ‘Greenway’ shown on the Chapter 2 Cork City Maps keys to ‘Lee to Sea Greenway’

·       To include a bespoke Lee to Sea Greenway objective within Chapter 4 Transport and Mobility to support the feasibility, phasing, funding and delivery of the route within the short term, connecting Ballingcollig to Passage West. This objective should include consistency of layout, design (adopting universal design principles), signage and coordination with Cork County Council at the two points where the Greenway connects with the County’s section of greenway at Passage West and outside Ballincollig.

Príomh-thuairim:

The 'Lee to Sea Greenway' should be identified as a clear objective within the Draft CDP.

Príomh-iarratais:

Include specific 'Lee to Sea' objective within Chapter 2. Core Strategy & Chapter 4. Transport & Mobility.

Main reasons:

Huge positive benefits to City inhabitants and visitors alike.
