Notice Under Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994, as amended, Cork City Council hereby gives notice of its intention to carry out traffic management measures in the interest of the safety and convenience of pedestrian and cycle users in Glanmire.

Cork City Council invites comments/submissions on a proposed alternative to the approved greenway connection from Riverstown village to Glanmire Community School.  If approved, this alternative connection along Hazelwood Road would replace the previously approved works east of the L3010 junction with Dooley’s Lane and on the pathway from the L2997 Brooklodge Grove to the Hazelwood Road adjoining the community school.

The main features of the proposed scheme are:-

  • Provision of a pedestrian and cycle facility from Riverstown village through Dooley’s Lane and Old Avenue estate to Glanmire Community School via Hazelwood Road.
  • Provision of raised table crossings across the internal roads within Old Avenue estate.
  • Provision of a pedestrian and cycle facility from the entrance to Old Avenue on Hazelwood Road to entrance of Hazelwood Close to provide connectivity to the cycle way from Hazelwood and Oakfield estates.
  • Provision of a new controlled toucan crossing on Hazelwood Road.
  • Upgrade of existing crossing outside the Glanmire Community School on Hazelwood Road.
  • Provision of a pedestrian and cycle facility on Aldi Link Road to connect St Joseph’s Primary School, St Joseph’s View and Marble Park to the proposed cycleway on Dooley’s Lane.
  • Planting of new trees to replace vegetation and trees that will be removed to facilitate the works.
  • Other necessary associated ancillary works.

Plans and Particulars of the proposed development are available to view by visiting https://consult.corkcity.ie. Alternatively, they will be made available for inspection by appointment at Reception Desk, Cork City Council, City Hall, Cork on working days from Friday 26th of February 2021 to Monday 29th of March 2021 from 9am to 4.30pm.
