NOTICE UNDER SECTION 38 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1994 (AS AMENDED)

Proposed Road Safety Improvement Schemes

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994 (as amended) Cork City Council hereby gives notice of its intention to carry out road safety improvement works at the following five locations:

  1. L2211 Coolroe Road, Ballincollig – Installation of a signal controlled pedestrian crossing in the vicinity of the Innishmore Playground, incorporating a flat-top speed ramp.
  2. L1117 St Colmcille’s Road, Churchfield – Installation of a zebra pedestrian crossing with flashing amber “Belisha Beacons” and incorporating a flat-top speed ramp, close to the junction of St Colmcille’s Road and Churchfield Way Lower
  3. R614/R616/L2980 junction at White’s Cross – renewal and modification of road markings, installation of public lighting and provision of road traffic signage.
  4. L2980/L2958 junction at Dublin Pike – alterations to the junction layout, installation of traffic calming kerb build-outs and provision of improved road traffic signage and upgrading of the public lighting.
  5. L6746 Bellevue Road, Grange – modifications to the existing traffic calming and pedestrian crossing features and upgrading of one pedestrian crossing in the vicinity of Scoil Nioclais.

Plans and particulars of the proposed works will be available for public inspection from Tuesday 16th of August 2022 until Monday 19th of September 2022:

  • electronically via Cork City Council’s Online Consultation Portal at https://consult.corkcity.ie
  • at the public reception desk of Cork City Council’s offices at City Hall, Anglesea Street, Cork T12 T997, between the hours of 9:00am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays.

A physical copy of the plans and particulars may be requested by interested parties. Requests for documents may be made by phoning 021-4924767, by emailing traffic@corkcity.ie, or by sending a written request to “Executive Engineer, Traffic Operations, Room 338, City Hall, Anglesea St., Cork, T12 T997”

Submissions and observations with respect to the proposed works may be made;

  • electronically via Cork City Council’s Online Consultation Portal at https://consult.corkcity.ie
  • in writing to “Executive Engineer, Traffic Operations, Room 338, City Hall, Anglesea Street, Cork, T12 T997

The deadline for receipt of submissions and observations is 4:00 pm on Monday 19th of September 2022.

All comments, including names and addresses of those making submissions and observations, submitted to Cork City Council in regard to this scheme, will form part of the statutorily required report to be presented at the monthly meeting of Cork City Council. Accordingly, they will be included in the minutes of that meeting and may appear in the public domain. Cork City Council will retain data for no longer than is necessary and in accordance with the Council’s Retention Policy and relevant Data Protection legislation.
