Pedestrian Safety Interventions

 

Notice Under Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994

 

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994, Cork City Council hereby gives notice of its intention to carry out the following traffic management measures in the interest of the safety and convenience of road users.

 

Dublin Hill

 

It is proposed to install a raised tabletop on Dublin Hill at the junction of Marian Park and Dublin Hill. An uncontrolled crossing point will be installed on this raised table. A raised uncontrolled crossing will also be installed on Glenthorn Road near the junction of Glenthorn Road and Dublin Hill. New footpaths, road markings and signage as well as ancillary works will also be carried out in the area.

 

The main elements of the proposed works at this location are:

 

  • Raised table across the junction of Marian Park and Dublin Hill.
  • Raised table across the junction of Glenthorn Road.
  • Junction upgrade works at the junction of Dublin Hill and Hawthorn Estate.
  • Provison of uncontrolled pedestrian crossings.
  • New road marking and signage.
  • Other necessary associated works.

 

Vicars Road

 

It is proposed to install a controlled pedestrian crossing on Vicars Road. The controlled crossing is to be installed 30m west of the junction of Vicars Road and the South Cork Industrial Estate. New road markings and signage as well as ancillary works will also be carried out in the area.

 

The main elements of the proposed works in this location are:

 

  • Provison of a controlled pedestrian crossing
  • New road markings and signage
  • Other necessary associated works.

 

 

 

Ringmahon Road

 

It is proposed to install a controlled pedestrian crossing with central traffic island on Ringmahon Road approximately 75m east of the junction of Avenue de Renne and Ringmahon Road. New road markings and signage will be installed. Ancillary works associated with the installation of the crossing will also be carried out.

 

The main elements of the proposed works at this location are:

 

  • Provison of a controlled pedestrian crossing
  • New road markings and signage
  • Other necessary associated works.

 

Details of the proposed works including an Appropriate Assessment screening report and Environmental Assessment screening report are available for inspection online at https://consult.corkcity.ie and also at Reception Desk, Cork City Council, City Hall, Anglesea Street, Cork on working days from Thursday the 5th of March 2020 to Thursday the 09th of April 2020 between 9am and 4.00pm.

 

Any observations in relation to this proposal should be made on electronically through https://consult.corkcity.ie/en/ or forwarded in an envelope marked “Pedestrian Safety Interventions” to Senior Engineer, Infrastructure Development, City Hall, Anglesea Street, Cork. Final date for submissions is 4pm on Thursday the 09th of April 2020.
