NOTICE UNDER SECTION 38 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1994 (AS AMENDED)
Proposed Road Safety Improvement Schemes
Pursuant to the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994 (as amended)Cork City Council hereby gives notice of its intention to carry out road safety improvement works at the following three locations:
Junctions of R608 Magazine Rd R849, Glasheen Rd and the L98492 Coolgarten Pk -
Reconstruction of junctions at either end of L98492 Coolgarten as raised table junctions
Improvement of junction sightlines by removal of on street parking
Re-construction of footpaths at junction environs.
Provision of uncontrolled crossings
Junction of L5106 Tower Street with L5026 Friar's Walk, Greenmount-
Reconstruction of crossroads as a raised table junction
Improvement of junction sightlines by removal of on street parking
Re-construction of footpaths at junction environs.
Provision of uncontrolled crossings
Ardrostig Crossroads at R849 Bandon Road junction with L5037 Waterfall Road-
Reconstruction of junction to remove "triangle" layout & create safer geometry
Construction of new footpath links in junction environs
Inclusion of safe pedestrian crossing facilities
All the above schemes will include associated ancillary site works such as modifications and improvement to road markings and signs, drainage and public lighting.
Plans and particulars of the proposed works will be available for public inspection from Friday 3rd October 2025 until Friday 31st October 2025:
at the public reception desk of Cork City Council’s offices at City Hall, Anglesea Street, Cork T12 T997, between the hours of 9:00am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays.
Submissions and observations with respect to the proposed works may be made;
in writing to “Executive Engineer, Traffic Regulation & Safety, Room 338, City Hall, Anglesea Street, Cork, T12 T997
The deadline for receipt of submissions and observations is 4:00 pm on Friday 31st October 2025.
All comments, including names and addresses of those making submissions and observations, submitted to Cork City Council regarding this scheme, will form part of the statutorily required report to be presented at the monthly meeting of Cork City Council. Accordingly, they will be included in the minutes of that meeting and may appear in the public domain. Cork City Council will retain data for no longer than is necessary and in accordance with the Council’s Retention Policy and relevant Data Protection legislation.
