I am writing today as chair of the Arts for All Strategic Group, I am requesting, as an initiative of the current LECP and to acknowledge the work of so many individuals and organisations that have worked on this LECP initiative on behalf of its citizenship. We request that our work is embedded in the new Cork City Development plan, building on our work to date through the L.E.C.P.
I would like to see on page 257 under Vision:Cork City and region achieve its vision in becoming a recognised “European Centre of Excellence for Inclusion in the Arts”.
On page 271 objective 8.11 I would like to add:
Support "Arts for All Cork" to realise the ambition of Cork City as a “European Centre of Excellence for inclusion in the arts”
Develop, promote and platform the work of disabled artists / artists identifying as disabled in line with SDG 11 and the UNCRPD
On page 260:
I would like that Arts for All Cork are mentioned in 8.17 and request that as part of the festivals paragraph that you include: This strategy will committ to complete an assessment to ascertain if a new International - European Festival celebrating disability arts / arts and disability can be embedded as a new sustainable festival for Cork City.
Imbedding "Realising Cork City as a Centre of Excellence for Inclusion in the Arts" at a EU level in the strategy.
EU wide Disability Arts Festival for Cork, building on previous Irish Performing Arts Festival and implementing UNCRPD article 30 and SDG 11
Recognition for "Arts for All" Cork and its work as an initiative of the LECP and having it specifically stated in the new City Development Plan.
Build on and cement the progress of LECP actions stated on Pg 78 of LECP in the City's new City Development Plan ( action ref. 3.11,3.12,3.13. Attached)
Ensuring the creative and artistic life of the city includes disabled and other marginalised voices and celebrates and reflects the diversity of creative output of our citizenship.
Putting our collective work on a stronger and specificaly stated footing
Strategically recognising peoples rights to access and particpate in the creative and cultural life of the city.
Gives an ambition to Cork City to house an international festival of rights, disability and inclusion.
