Submission in support of Amendment 2.97
I lived for many years on Blarney street and I am very familiar with this site, indeed I often wondered how such a wonderfully secluded site could have remained undeveloped through all these years, with all the apartments developed next door in St Kevin’s, Hollymount on the other side, and of course the developments on the Blarney road.
It seemed to me that this was a very natural infill site that could provide much needed housing on the North side of Cork, especially with so much employment close by, indeed you could probably walk through the laneway at the top of this site ( a lane I walked many times when I was young) to Apple Computers in ten minutes where many of the 6,000 employees are desperate for housing close to where they are working.
I suppose it is to be expected for people living on the Lee Road to object to any change in their area, this of course also happens with any development elsewhere in Ireland where change is proposed, however we urgently need housing in the North side of Cork city and such a need can not be frustrated by people who want their area to stay the same for ever.
I support this development in the strongest possible terms
