Zoning Maps

Ábhair:

I strongly object to the rezoning of the hinterland in the Lee valley for the purpose of high density residential area, the reasons for my objection are the following

The wooded area to the south of the proposed residential area is home to pheasants, buzzards, fox's, red squirrel, hawks and many more wildlife , the wooded area will be used as the entry point to the site with machinery and trucks, this will require these woods to be distroyed. The planner has noted that this will be a preserved wooded area this can't be the case as the trees that are presently growing there are mature native trees which will be felled for construction any trees that will be planted in their place won't be able to sustain the existing wildlife, to loose such wildlife so close to our city would never be forgiven by future generations

The purposed entrance to the site on the Lee road is just after a blind corner on the already not fit for purpose Lee Road ( which was the location of a very bad head on collision in the last year or so) .The footpath on the Lee Rd is very badly maintained with half the footpath covered in debris and the other side has telecom poles blocking making it impossible for buggies wheelchairs and pedestrians to pass in a safe manner , the proposed site would make this issue a lot worse

The site is located on a steep hill which only discourages people cycling and walking and I refer to a recent  residential planning permission in Glanmire being turned down for this reason, this would bring more cars to the Sunday's well bridge which is already has a excess traffic problem and on to the Lee Rd west bound which has a terrible surface with many potholes and no cycle lane and a sharp bridge by the anglers rest bar that leads to another traffic black spot at the junction by anglers rest bar

The nearest public transport is on the western road which is 15/ 20 min walk away and with the steep hill to walk to access the bus service this is not acceptable for such a residential development

I note that the planner has a public pedestrian access to Hollymount through a private driveway, there is no public access to Hollymount  so this pedestrian access will not accessible

There is no current public sewage system in place and no plan to have this available in the next 5years

The center of Cork City is full of derelict properties that should be encouraged by policy to be renovated before a green belt should be destroyed for a high density residential area.

Please take these points  in to consideration before doing something ye will regret in years to come

Thank  you

Shane
