10. Key Growth Areas & Neighbourhood Development Sites

Ábhair:

I wish to object to Amendments 1.241&1.247. It is entirely inconsistent with good planning and development to drive an arterial roadway and bridge through a linear park, bisecting the park and increasing air pollution, noise pollution and preventing proper car-free development.

It is further inconsistent with national policy on reduction of car dependency and fossil fuel use to drive an arterial roadway through a park and to drop a bridge onto the pedestrianised Marina and associated Greenway.

It is further inconsistent with European-level policy to take such steps when Cork City has been nominated at a European level to be one of the cities decarbonising and moving away from such car-dependent schemes.

The amendments are entirely dependent on and subservient to private car usage, are inconsistent with good development and decarbonisation, are inconsistent with national and European policy on such, are fundamentally irrational in the light of those set policies and should not be accepted.
