Many studies have proven that building more roads will result in more traffic (induced demand) The five lane highway will bisect the new Marina Park and the new bridge will dominate the Marina itself which has recently been pedestrianised to great success.

We are in the middle of a climate crisis. Building more infrastructure for private cars will lock in car use for another generation. Moreover, a five lane dual carriageway through the new residential area to be created in the docklands will not benefit the residents there (as it will divide the area in two) but will in reality bring commuters and through traffic into an area that currently has very little traffic of that nature.

The city development plan should be revised to deliver people (not car) centred infrastructure that promotes healthy, active travel.
