Hi,

I would like to make an objection to the proposal the rezone land from community to educational land at the site at Lenaghmore, Togher Road. I feel the site is totally unsuitable for an educational facility of any kind due to road safety conditions and steep gradient.

The site sits at the edge or outside two recent DES catchment plebiscites. It sits outside the Glasheen Catchment and although it is inside the Carrigaline catchment area, it has no transport links to Carrigaline and none are planned in CMATS. This would lock in car dependency for these to catchments and not be aligned with safe routes to school, independent travel for children or our climate objectives.

It’s current zoning allows for use both as educational and housing. This allows enough leeway to create an educational space at the site if road safety concerns are addressed. However rezoning to purely educational will leave council and developers unable to change the zoning of this land back to residential until 2028, or only through material contravention application. I would argue that leaving it under community allows for more freedom in HOW the site might used, in any given scenario.

Kind regards,
