Proposed Traffic Calming and Pedestrian Improvement Works in Blarney and Tower

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994, Cork City Council hereby gives notice of its intention to install traffic calming measures in the interest of the safety and convenience of road users at the Clogheenmilcon Fen in Blarney and Model Village, Tower.

Cork City Council proposes to carry out various measures to improve pedestrian infrastructure and facilities on the R617, L-2796, L-2752 and L-6857.

The main features of the proposed scheme are:-

  • Installing Puffin Crossing, footpath improvements and ancillary works on the R617 at Clogheenmilcon Fen.
  • Installing a Zebra Crossing on the L-2796 at the Clogheenmilcon Fen.
  • Provision of a raised table uncontrolled crossing on the R617 by Tower Shopping Centre and additional footpath works.
  • Provision of a raised table uncontrolled crossing on the L-2752 Kerry Road.
  • Pedestrian improvements and adjustment to parking on the L-6857 Shournagh Valley Road.
  • Associated Anti Skid Surfacing.

Alternatively they will be made available for inspection by appointment at Reception Desk, Cork City Council, City Hall, Cork on working days from Wednesday 21st October to Monday 23rd November, 2020 from 9am to 4.30pm. Please phone 021-4924000 in advance to arrange an appointment.  

 

Submissions and observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, may be made:

 

  • In writing to Roads Operations, City Hall, Cork. It should be clearly marked “Blarney and Tower Section 38”

 

Closing date for receipt of submissions is on or before 5.00 p.m. on Wednesday 25th of November 2020.

 

All comments, including names and addresses of those making submissions and observations, submitted to Cork City Council in regard to this scheme, will form part of the statutorily required report to be presented at the monthly meeting of Cork City Council. Accordingly, they will be included in the minutes of that meeting and may appear in the public domain. Cork City Council will retain data for no longer than is necessary and in accordance with the Council’s Data Protection Policy and Privacy Statement (available to view on www.corkcity.ie) and relevant Data Protection legislation.
