Litir Chumhdaigh

The Cork Dragons are a Dragon Boat Team set up in 2012 to, support and inspire men and women who have been impacted by cancer. Our club is primarily made up of Breast Cancer Survivors but we also have several members who have survived other cancers. We are also welcoming to family and friends who lives have been impacted by cancer. We paddle on the River Lee and meet twice weekly for training sessions where members can train at a competitive or leisurely pace.

We support the submission by Meitheal Mara Ref: CRK-C155-DEV21-65 for a multi use Maritime Recreation Hub with appropriate land zoning in The Marina.

Currently we do not have secure access to the water for our weekly training sessions, to put in/take out our boats and to store our equipment. We do not have anywhere to change/toilet facilities or a space for club meeting/events. Due to the size of our Club and it's unique nature a shared Maritime Hub would be an excellent fit for our needs.

Multi-use Maritime Recreation Hub

The draft CDP does not include an objective for a Maritime Activities Centre directly but does refer to provision for multi-use sport/ recreational hub.

We would like to see a land use zoning objective for the site identified at the east end of Marina Park (Zoning Map 5) that does not preclude the provision of a Maritime Activities Centre/Hub with slipway .

The need to appropriately zone the land for a Maritime Hub is covered in the detailed submission by Meitheal Mara CRK-C155-DEV21-65, the Cork Dragons are fully supportive of this.
