Public Consultation on Proposed Material Alterations to the Draft Cork City Development Plan 2022-2028

Having considered the Draft City Development Plan and the Chief Executive’s Report on submissions received, it was resolved by the Elected Members of Cork City Council at a Council Meeting on the 15th March 2022, to amend the Draft Cork City Development Plan 2022-2028.

At the meeting, the Council resolved that a number of these amendments constitute a Material Alteration to the Draft Development Plan, and the proposed amendments would be placed on public display for a period of not less than 4 weeks in accordance with Section 12(7)(b) of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 (as amended).

The Proposed Material Alterations to the Draft Cork City Development Plan 2022-2028 are on display for a period of 4 weeks from 9.00 A.M. Friday 1st April to 11.59 P.M. Thursday 28th April  inclusive. It can be located www.corkcitydevelopmentplan.ie and also in the following venues.

  • The Planning Counter, Cork City Council, City Hall, Anglesea Street, Cork from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday - Friday.
  • Cork City Library, 61 grand Parade, Centre, Cork from 10a.m. to 5p.m. Monday - Saturday

Following on from the stage two public consultation, we have now entered stage three of the Development Plan process and ask the public to share their views on the proposed amendments to the Draft Cork City Development Plan 2022-2028 and supporting environmental reports.  Please refer to our Process Overview document on our website for details on the Plan Process Overview Document.

The Timeline:

Stage 1

  • 26th June, 2020 - Notice of intention of Planning Authority to Prepare a new Development Plan (Issues Paper). Commence Public Consultation.
  • 21st August, 2020 – End of Public Consultation.
  • 16th October 2020 - Chief Executive’s Report on Pre-Draft Submissions submitted to Council for consideration.
  • 18th May 2021 –Draft Development Plan submitted to full Council for consideration.

Stage 2

  • 26th July 2021 – Draft Development Plan open to the public for consultation.
  • 4th October 2021 – Public Consultation Period Ends.
  • 20th December 2021 – Chief Executive’s Report on Draft Plan Submissions submitted to Council for consideration.

Stage 3

  • 1st April 2022 – Council adopts or amends Draft Plan.
  • You are here: 1st April 2022 – Public Consultation on Amendments to Draft Plan begins.
  • 28th April 2022 – Public Consultation on Amendments to Draft Plan ends.
  • 25th May 2022 – Chief Executive’s Report on Submissions on Amendments to Draft Plan submitted to Council.
  • 27th June 2022 – Council considers Chief Executive’s Report on Submissions and makes Development Plan.

Stage 4

  • 8th August 2022 – Cork City Development Plan 2022-2028 takes effect.

 

In respect of making a submission or observation please note the following:

  • Submissions/observations should include your name and address, a map (if required for identification purposes) and, where relevant, details of any organisation, community group or company etc., which you represent.
  • Children, or groups or associations representing the interests of children, are particularly encouraged to make submissions or observations.
  • The Planning Authority is required to send certain written submissions and observations to the Minister. Your written submission/observation, together with your name and address, may therefore be sent to the Minister where required.
  • Please make your submission by one medium only, i.e. hard copy, email or website. Written submissions or observations with respect to the Proposed Material Amendments to the Draft Cork City Development Plan 2022-2028 and environmental reports that are made to the Planning Authority within the period stated will be taken into consideration before the making of the Plan. As stated above, submissions will only be accepted during the period 9.00 A.M. Friday 1st April to 11.59 P.M. Thursday 28th April inclusive. Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • Please note that in accordance with Section 12 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended) all valid submissions received by the Council shall be published on the Cork City Council website within 10 working days of its receipt by the Council and can be viewed at https://consult.corkcity.ie. You should ensure that no vexatious, libellous or confidential information, including confidential information relating to a third party (in respect of which the third party has not, expressly, or impliedly in the circumstances, consented to its disclosure) is included in your submission. The Planning Authority reserves the right to redact any submission or part thereof that does not comply with this requirement. Please be advised that the submission will be published in full to include any name, address, etc required.
