To integrate communities and community and voluntary groups into decision making and to promote civic participation and community engagement.

3.1

 

Support the continued input of community and business organisations, and especially new organisations, to enable them participate in decision-making at a local level.

Support the work of the Cork Volunteer Centre

Support and promote the provision of a placement service matching volunteers, with organisations delivering community projects in the city.

Make consultation in the city easily accessible to all community groups.

Through the PPN, ensure any consultation in the city is easily accessible to community groups and encourages the delivery of participatory decision making.

Develop more accessible services through web based applications and other Smart City initiatives (such as community television), in tandem with traditional methods of communications (newspapers, newsletters, etc.)

Promote the Citizens Information Service as a means for increasing awareness of information services and advocacy.

Increase public, business and community participation in key city events and festivals.

Actively promote and encourage civic participation in city strategies, events and festivals.

Enhance and affirm PPN as a key vehicle to represent social inclusion, community, voluntary and environmental interests.

Support and actively engage with the Cork City PPN to encourage and increase city wide engagement in the economic and community life of the city.

Support the PPN to connect community groups with other community and economic groups active in the city and within their own neighbourhoods.

Support the implementation of actions that allow Cork City and region to become a European Centre for Excellence for Inclusive Arts
